Playstation 2

The PlayStation 2 is very well- reviewed. It’s no doubt why. It has over 3500 games and some of the most popular series out there. From Disney to Dragon Quest it is no wonder why the station is held in such high regards. The gaming system can easily be transfigured into a computer.

Although the PS5 is just right around the corner, the PS2 is cheaper and all its games are already out. The PS5 is really expensive and the PS2 is less than 100 dollars to buy. Yes, you could say the graphics make the PS5 worth it but, I come from a gaming family where we have too many consoles as it is. Either way I would recommend the PS2 over the PS5.

This console has been produced for 13 years straight. That is more than most systems combined. It is easy to install and move it from one place to another and for my family, it is very nostalgic. I remember watching my parents play God Of War and Scooby Doo. God of War 2 also was a part of my childhood. The PS2 has a game for everyone. When I was younger I played a game about Winnie the Pooh. It is great for all ages. My mother and brother played Dragon Quest and Soul Calibur 3. Meanwhile, I played Kingdom Hearts because I loved the mix of Final Fantasy and Disney. The second Kingdom Hearts also came out on the PlayStation 2. Besides the games, there were easy to follow controls and easily accessed memory cards.

Nowadays people use the cloud or auto saves. I personally like memory cards because different cards can be used for a different member of my family. Say my mother wants to play the same game as me but differently. I play on one memory card and she plays on the other. That way we don’t get mixed up.

Another core component to the popularity of the PlayStation 2 is the way it obliterated the competition. During the release of the PlayStation 2, it was going up against the Gamecube and the Dreamcast. Nintendo and Sega are some of the biggest companies of gaming. Nintendo has Mario games. Sega has Sonic the Hedgehog. Both big name titles were hard to beat but, the PlayStation 2 won out. Fun fact the gaming system sold over 155 million copies. Now, the question we all have. Why buy it over newer versions of consoles? The simple answer is the games. Yes, you can play emulators for your games but, it is not as authentic. Some of my best memories are being with family or by myself, curled up in a blanket and fighting bosses and hordes of enemies. Sometimes you don’t the need the newest console to have a good time. You just need a great game and a great console.
