Unit 5

The 24th Infantry was a group of people who were unsuitable for the village of Columbus. People wanted them out of their town as fast as possible. They started writing letters back and forth to convince each other one way or another. One side for keeping the troops and the other side for leaving them behind or kicking them out all together. I find most of the letters say they want the troops gone no matter what.

One view tells that there is no one at the time to take over so it is best to leave the troops where they were. Some just say that the complaints are wrong and that the group was nothing but loyal. I find most of the time the complaints come from hurtful or narrow-minded views. There is not much to go on. Some of the information is tangible and then the rest just makes it convoluted. I honestly had a harder time than I thought I would have.

What I found hardest about this narrative was how old the text was. Some of it was faded and some was just too small to read. That might just be my eyes though. It was confusing as well. I couldn’t really tell what was going on. There are dates all over the place.
